Why should YOU play Jaxx?

Look, everyone knows Jay Nedry is an asshole. There's no argument, so there's really no reason to keep saying it. But his nightclub, Jaxx, is still the best place a new band can play to get the stage experience they need. Why? Several reasons.

1. The stage. Its big and professional. Its the closest any place will come to a real stage that your band will ever play.

2. The sound. The sound system at Jaxx is fantastic, and you'll NEVER sound this good again.

3. The lights. One of the biggest lighting setups you'll find. And absolutely perfect for getting those performance pictures that are so important for media kits and websites.

Now I know that Jaxx has its problems. The place can smell something awful. The grime on everything won't go away (mostly from the damn smoke that they insist on using). Here's a hint: never buy a canned soda and drink from the can. Trust me, it'll put you in the hospital. The bathrooms are old and small. And there is absolutely no ventilation. Meaning all the smokers will have you choking after a few hours.

But there are many good things to consider too. Jaxx books bands that draw. National headlining bands. They may be bands from the 80's, but they still draw. Meaning you'll be playing to an audience. I know, you have to presell tickets, but why not do that? You'll make some money in the process.

The best I can tell you is to contact Jay and get booked there. Sell some tickets and have a great show. And then decide for yourself if you ever want to go back. But try it first. Ignore everything you've ever heard bad about the place and give it a shot. You just might be pleasantly surprised.
